everyone seems to be looking
blindly at their own hypocrisy
i say this truth to remind you
not to embrace shallow diplomacy
why can't in our arguments
and in our many disagreements
we look to find a way to make amends
instead we fight tooth and nail as we pretend
life ain't getting harder,
not because of ourselves
but the others
why do we even bother
to say we want the truth
we refuse to see
todays the day of information
so why do insist on invalidating
a fact that seems too inconvenient
embracing tall tales to convey our opinion
it's honestly sickening pretending
the truth will be revealed through the lie that were conveying
it's often times frankly maddening
to see the world in disarray from blindness to hypocrisy
life is getting harder
just because of ourselves
and the others
why do we even bother
to say we want the truth
we refuse to see
all in all
pride comes before a giant fall
we convince ourselves we're god among men
then we wonder how we're in this mess
surely there's reason for willful ignorance
and reason to label truth as false pretense
surely there's a time when it will all make sense
but I ain't holdin my breath for that day on this planet
life is getting harder
just because of ourselves
and the others
why do we even bother
to say we want the truth
