Desolate days of winter’s praise
A momentary lapse of God’s reprieve
Before the judgement of my sin
I wish to know summer again
If life would take my broken heart
And steal the wind within my core
Then my life would gain some source
Of meaning beyond my love for more
O’ what light and awkward sound
That flutters afar yet rears abound
An ever-elated notion that confounds
I call it my muse ’tis your voice in the town
You beckon for love like a siren at sea
Who quenches the thirst of the reaper nightly
If only our love could withstand the sea breeze
That comes as the winter unto God’s good reprieve
